[See the list →](https://norwegiansoda.co/norways-best-cocktail-bars) ## Our process ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/1t43ddvv4t3.jpg) Stig Bareksten flavours *Norwegian Soda Company's* mixers with the most primary of elements: the Nordic soil. He grows his own ingredients, forages fruits and berries, and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, In a small shed in his own garden, Stig Bareksten experiments with different compositions and aromatics. His goal is to improve classic flavors, and to create a floral tonic that enhances the spices in gin. All of *Norwegian Soda Company's* mixers are made exclusively with Norwegian water. With our mountains, fjords and long history of hydropower, Norwegians are experts in outstanding water quality. ## Ingredients While other tonic waters are full of refined sugar, *Norwegian Soda Company* derives the sweetness from blackcurrant, elderflower, juniper, ginger and soil. Stig Bareksten believes in using natural ingredients that are harvested directly from nature and capturing the potential in unexpected spice combinations. Whilst initially appealing, a high sugar content floods the palette and dulls nuances in flavours. His carefully selected composition of different ingredients from the Nordic landscape both compliments and reveals the complexity of gin. This is how Stig Bareksten has tailor-made the world's best mixers. ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/1fr2lc19kafl.jpg) ## Experimental ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/17pc5f2ufutv.jpg) Stig Barekstens world revolves around unrestrained creativity. He is married to the ideal of not repeating the past, and his goal is to develop tonic waters that are *truly unique.* For Stig, there are no limits to what nature's pantry can add to the *Norwegian Soda Company's* tonics and mixers. Every day he wanders through the Norwegian woods in search of a flavour he has yet to taste. He looks to the sky and to the earth, to the flowers and to the trees. He asks himself “what does the north taste like”, and rubs dried spice mixtures between his fingers hoping that the smell will lead him closer to the answer. ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/1p1kv5pc75h.jpg) ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/k9atm55g88.jpg) ![](https://norwegiansoda.co/media/images/site/posts/xlarge/124u7k25inp5.jpg) ## Stockists Care to stock a taste of the north?
